About Me
I'm Asra Hassan, a Medical Laboratory Scientist who recently completed a BS in Medical Laboratory Technology at the University of Haripur and am now pursuing an M.Phil in the same field.
During my degree, I worked on a final-year project developing a LAMP assay for detecting Helicobacter pylori resistance, which strengthened my interest in molecular diagnostics and antibiotic resistance. I also co-authored a peer-reviewed review article on artemisinin-based combination therapies, an experience that gave me confidence in research writing and teamwork.
Alongside academics, I gained practical training through my internship, where I worked in hematology, phlebotomy, microscopy, and routine diagnostic testing, learning how much accuracy and care matter in every single sample.
Right now, I'm focused on growing as a researcher in molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases, and I look forward to connecting with professionals and organizations working to improve healthcare through better laboratory practices.
Experience & Interests
Medical Laboratory Internee
THQ Hospital, Hassan Abdal
As part of my BS in Medical Laboratory Technology, I had the opportunity to complete my internship at THQ Hospital Hassan Abdal. This experience allowed me to step into a real hospital laboratory setting and apply the knowledge I had gained in the classroom. I worked in hematology, phlebotomy, microscopy, and routine diagnostic testing, where I learned how much accuracy and care matter in every single sample. I gained hands-on practice in patient sample collection and handling, developed an understanding of quality control procedures, and followed biosafety practices to ensure reliable results. This internship strengthened my skills and gave me confidence in working as part of a clinical laboratory team.

Publications
This article discusses the role and diagnostic value of immunohistochemistry in identifying infectious granulomas, particularly tuberculosis and fungal infections, and highlights how IHC helps pathologists differentiate between different infectious etiologies in tissue biopsies.
View ArticleThis review focuses on how the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) influence treatment outcomes, and how understanding these parameters can help optimize antimalarial efficacy and delay the emergence of drug resistance.
